Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered many other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for information.
A high-ranking representative said the incident rendered him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
